FROTHY STRAWBERRY MILK SHAKES

  1. Sprinkle gelatine over 1/4 cup (50 mL) of the cold milk in a small saucepan; let stand 1 minute.  Stir over low heat until gelatine is completely dissolved, about 5 minutes.
    Remove from heat.
     

  2. Combine strawberries, honey and vanilla in blender container; process until smooth.  With machine running, gradually add remaining milk and gelatine mixture
    through feed cap; process until well combined.  Add ice cubes one at a time; process at high speed after each addition until ice is melted.
     

  3. Pour and serve immediately.

A healthy after-school treat that older children can prepare themselves.  No high-fat ice cream is needed to produce these quick and creamy milkshakes.

Makes 4 servings.
  

VARIATIONS: 

Banana Shake:
Replace strawberries with 2 medium frozen bananas, peeled and sliced.

Chocolate Banana Shake:
Add 2 tbsp (30 mL) chocolate syrup with bananas.
